Ayumi Hamasaki, illustrated.

without comments

Pop star Ayumi Hamasaki will be teaming up with famous mangaka Akira Toriyama for her upcoming single “Rule/ Sparkle”. Toriyama is best known for his creation of Dragon Ball in 1984. This time round, Toriyama has drawn a likeness of Ayumi Hamasaki that will be printed on the first press CDs and DVDs of this new single. This is his first time drawing an illustration for a music artiste, as well as drawing a real person for a commercial product.

But of course, this collaboration is a result of Hamasaki’s “Rule” being used as the theme song of the worldwide release of the live-action “Dragonball” movie, based on Toriyama’s creation.

The single will go on sale in late February, way ahead of the movie’s release in mid March.

without comments

The popular band, Do As Infinity, is back! =D DAI had disbanded back in 2005 on the fateful day of 29 September and news on their official website reveal that this band will reform on the same day this year.

It is said that this band will focus more on live performances in the future but new materials should be out next spring in 2009. But right up after their much-rejoiced reunion, will be a free show at Yoyogi Park the next day on 30 Sept 2008.

DAI fans, stay tuned (: yosh, now it does sound great that the CD “Do the A Side” lying at my CD rack shall not be the last from Do As Infinity.

Ayaka’s Sing To The Sky (Previews Only)

without comments

Japanese singer Ayaka released her 2nd album in end June, and within a week, it moved up to the top position on the Oricon charts. (: Kinda liked the style of her new album, her voice still amazes me, and I definitely going to get hold on this album somehow.

Was surfing youtube till I came across this video consisting short previews of the various songs on the album. If you havent heard her before, try it and get impressed!

The song Mikazuki got me hooked back then, and now Ayaka magic (:

On a side note, Ayaka and Kobukuro are coming together for another collaboration after “WINDING ROAD”.. The song “Anata to”  is said to be released this coming fall. The decision for a CD release was made after great fan support after the song was performed live last year during a festival.

Olympics theme song for Japan

with 2 comments

(Tokyograph.com)

Reports released news that J-rock group Remioromen’s coming single, Motto Tooku E もっと遠くへ will be used by Fuji TV as the official theme song of their Olympics Games coverage. The single will be coming out end of next month.

The single’s B-side is “Orchestra,” which is also tied in to the Olympics. It will be used as a support song by the Japanese branch of Coca-Cola, which is one of the Olympics’ sponsors this year.

Saw how this group rose in fame from their song features in dorama “One Litre of Tears” and I do like their style of laid back pop. Hopefully they’ll be able to catch the Olympics wave and set their fans and listeners on fiery passion!

And this song surely depicts Japan’s desire and dream to go further in the world stage, and shine in the coming Olympics at Beijing…

KAT-TUN, dont u ever stop

without comments

just checked out the PV of KAT-TUN’s new single “Dont U Ever Stop”, and well they are KAT-TUN anyway, so yeah they are at the top of Oricon charts again (: yay.

I kinda like the intro, and the BANG feel when the song goes “STOP!” and the glass ball is smashed. Akanishi’s intro sounds good too. okay never mind, he’s just plain hot. =D (but but but i really wish his hair looked nicer…) Kamenashi looks cool too, with his hat (:

This song is definitely going into my iPod. (: not one to the usual ballad collections, but this one adds punch. whoosh. go go go KAT-TUN, dont you guys ever stop!
